EXSELENT abbreviates EXtremely SELective and ENanTio-selective nanoporous materials for controlled sorption and catalysis.

The Berzelii Center EXSELENT on Porous Materials is a joint initiative to promote excellent, multidisciplinary and innovative research on porous materials. The center generates new ideas for designing and synthesizing porous materials tailored for different applications. The current research is focused on catalysis, gas separation and new porous materials and characterization thereof.

The consortium currently consists of a total of 106 researchers from Stockholm University (Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry and Department of Organic Chemistry), the Technical Research Institute of Sweden (SP), and industrial partners AstraZeneca, Biokol, Cambrex, Calidris, ExxonMobil, NeoZeo, OrganoClick, Perstorp, SinoSteel, Sigrid Therapeutics, Nynas, and Jianqxi Size Materials.

Berzelii Center EXSELENT is a ten-year program supported by the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA) and the Swedish Research Council (VR).

  • is part of the ten-year Berzelii program initiated by VINNOVA and VR

      (2007-2016)

  • is a joint initiative to promote excellent, multidisciplinary and

      innovative research on porous materials

  • is a consortium consisting of Stockholm University (SU), the
